Born in the Alps (1953–1962)

In 1953, on the slopes of the Hautes-Alpes, our team produced France’s first rigid PVC profiles.

By 1962, the same spirit of invention led to the world’s first flexible strip door, transforming industrial spaces worldwide.

Timeline highlights:

  • 1953: Rigid PVC extrusion begins in the Hautes-Alpes region.
  • 1957: Early expertise in precision tooling and profile shaping.
  • 1962: Launch of the first flexible PVC strip door — a global first.

Defining Flexibility (1963–1996)

As soft PVC became its own specialty, a new identity was born — Extruflex.

Decades of experimentation refined the art of flexibility, giving industries materials that made workplaces safer, cleaner, and more efficient.

Precision and adaptability became our trademark long before “performance polymers” was a phrase.

Timeline highlights:

  • 1967: Flexible PVC division named “Extruflex” under Planet-Wattohm.
  • 1970s: Expansion of flexible PVC product range, meeting rising industrial demand.
  • 1980s: New formulations improve clarity, UV stability, and cold resistance.
  • 1990: Fontenay Industry acquires Extruflex, investing in modernization.

extruflex as european leader

Building a strong European Foundation (1997–2003)

As Extruflex entered a new century, Europe became our proving ground.

Through strategic acquisitions and the integration of leading expertise from France, Germany, and the UK, we created a unified standard of quality and innovation.

This period laid the technical and industrial foundation that would power Extruflex’s rise as a global reference in flexible PVC.

Timeline highlights:

  • 1997: J. Valat acquires Extruflex.
  • 1998: Acquisition of French competitor Euroflex.
  • 1999: Purchase of Beneke-Kaliko’s PVC business unit (Germany)
  • 2002: Acquisition of Powerkit Ltd (UK).
  • 2003: Formation of Extruflex GmbH & Extruflex UK.

Becoming the Global Leader (2004–2025)

Building on its European foundation, Extruflex expanded across continents to bring manufacturing closer to customers and ensure consistency everywhere.

With operations spanning four countries and distribution in over 80 markets, the company evolved from a regional champion into the global leader in flexible vinyl — setting the standard for quality, performance, and reliability worldwide.

Timeline highlights:

  • 2004: Creation of Extruflex Zhongshan (China).
  • 2005: Acquisition of Kautex soft-PVC division (Germany).
  • 2008: Formation of Extruflex Asia Pacific (Hong Kong).
  • 2010: Establishment of Extruflex North America (Alabama, USA).
